Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between authoritarian parenting styles and juvenile delinquency. Respondents in this study were teenagers in Pekanbaru, totaling 100 teenagers with an age range of 10-19 years. The measuring tool used in this study is the juvenile delinquency scale taken from the Aprilia Alifah Putri scale (2018) and the authoritarian parenting scale which is also taken from the Aprilia Alifah Putri scale (2018). The analysis used in this study was Spearman's non-parametric correlation test to see the relationship between research variables. The results showed that the results of the hypothesis testing were not significant and there was no relationship (r = -0.055 and p > 0.05) with the coefficient of determination test yielding a result of 0.9% where the percentage for both variables was low and it could be concluded that the variable authoritarian parenting and juvenile delinquency variables in Pekanbaru are not correlated or not related to each other.
