Abstract
The lack of social support of parents with the direction of students' career choices is very influential on the development of children, parents try to anticipate by doing support both from aspects of affection, social integration, appreciation, recognition, reliable relationships and the possibility to help. This study aims to see whether there is a relationship between parental social support and the direction of students' career choices. The subjects of this study are all grade XII (twelve) students of the 2022/2023 Academic Year at SMA Negeri 1 Pangkalan totaling 125 students. Sampling in this study was obtained using a sampling technique, namely Non Probability Sampling is a sampling technique that does not provide equal opportunities or opportunities for each element or member of the population to be selected as a sample. Based on the results of pearson correlation analysis, a positive r value of 0.325 was obtained with a significance value of 0.000 (p ? 0.05) this can be interpreted that the proposed hypothesis is accepted, Analysis of parental social support in the medium category, namely with 48 respondents or 38.1%, while analysis of student career choices in the medium category, namely with the number of respondents 49 or 39.5%, That is, there is a relationship between parental social support and student career choices. The higher the social support of parents, the higher the student's career choice.
