Abstract

The success of an education depends on the learning process taught by the teacher to students. So that teachers are required to carry out the maximum learning process in order to become professional teachers. This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and problem focused coping with the job satisfaction of honorary teachers in Pekanbaru City. The sample in this study was 314 honorary teachers. The method used is the proportional random sampling technique and the data collection method uses a Likert scale with an emotional intelligence scale consisting of 14 valid items (? = 0.701) and the problem focused coping scale consisting of 38 valid items (? = 0.849) while the job satisfaction scale consists of 12 valid items (? = 0.796). Hypothesis testing in this study used multiple analysis techniques using the T test and F test (simultaneous). Based on the analysis of the T test on emotional intelligence and job satisfaction, it shows that the first hypothesis is accepted, meaning that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction with a correlation value of 0.194 with a significance value of 0.001 <0.05. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between problem focused coping and job satisfaction with a correlation value of 0.218 (0.000, P<0.05). Likewise, emotional intelligence and problem focused coping with job satisfaction on honorary teachers in Pekanbaru City, indicating a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and problem focused coping with job satisfaction with a simultaneous correlation coefficient of determination in this study 0.262 with a significance of 0.000 <0.05. This shows that the third hypothesis is accepted and found to contribute simultaneously by 6.9%.
