Abstract
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-REGULATION IN LEARNING AND ACADEMIC STRESS IN STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY HAQUNISA IKHTIARTI 188110135 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY ABSTRACT Academic stress is a type of stress that is commonly experienced by many students, including engineering students. This stress usually comes from various demands and academic stressors that students cannot overcome. One of the factors thought to be related to academic stress is self-regulation in learning. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a negative relationship between self-regulation in learning and academic stress in students of the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. This research is included in the type of quantitative research using a correlational approach. The subjects in this study were 364 students of the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling technique. The data collection method uses two scales, namely the self-regulation scale in learning which consists of 34 items and the academic stress scale which consists of 28 items. The data analysis method used is Pearson's Product Moment Correlation. The results showed that the level of self-regulation in learning and academic stress in students of the Faculty of Engineering, Riau Islamic University were mostly in the moderate category. The results show that the correlation coefficient (r) obtained is -0.219 with a significance level (p) of 0.000 (p <0.05). This shows that the hypothesis is accepted, that there is a significant negative relationship between self-regulation in learning and academic stress in students, which means that the higher the self-regulation in learning, the lower the academic stress in students of the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. Conversely, the lower the self-regulation in learning, the higher the academic stress on students of the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau.
