Abstract
Learningtoread isvery importantforelementaryschool studentstodevelop abilitiesandforstudentstoexploremoreextensiveknowledgebyreading.The aimoftheresearchwastoexaminetheinfluenceofcomicmediaonthereading comprehensionabilityoffourthgradestudentsatSDNegeri21Pekanbaru.This researchisapre-experimentalquantitativeresearchwithaonegrouppretestand posttestdesignanddoesnotuseacontrolgroup.Thesubjectsofthisresearch wereclassIVconsistingof27people.Researchdatawasobtainedfromobjective testscarriedoutwithpretestandposttesttodeterminetheresultsoftheeffect. Theresultsofthisresearchshowthatusingcomicmediahasaneffecton students'readingcomprehensionabilities.Basedonhypothesistestingobtained usingsimplelinearregression,whichshowstheinfluenceofcomicmediaonthe readingcomprehensionabilityofclassIVstudentsatSDNegeri21Pekanbaru. Thisisbasedonthemeanpretestreadingcomprehensionscoreof54.81and posttestof80.74.Thedifferenceinmeanpretestandposttestscoresis25.93.
