Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the role of parents was needed in the distance learning process. Parents can provide children with motivation, attention, and support during learning activities. This study aims to analyze the role of parents in student learning and the inhibiting factors on the part of parents in student learning. This type of research is qualitative. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The approach used in this study is qualitative. The methods used to collect data are interviews, observation, and documentation. The research data collection instrument was an interview guide. The technique used in analyzing the data is descriptive qualitative analysis. The study results show that parents' role in motivating learning can be seen from their roles as mentors, facilitators, and motivators. Parents act as facilitators by providing learning tools such as places to study, textbooks and stationery, and facilities to develop children's talents and interests. Parents as motivators by motivating children by rewarding children's learning achievements by giving gifts or words of praise. Parents as mentors are involved in learning activities by discussing with homeschooling parties regarding learning programs that are appropriate to the child's condition.
