Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematics learning outcomes of students at SMP Negeri 4 Siak Hulu for the 2023/2024 academic year. This research is a Quasi Experimental research (Quasi Experiment). The research design is Nonequivalent Control Group Design with purposive sampling technique. The research population was all class IX students of SMP Negeri 4 Siak Hulu. The sample chosen was class IX.4 as an experimental class using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with 32 students and class IX.5 as a control class using a conventional learning model with 32 students. The data collection technique used is a pretest and posttest. This research uses data analysis techniques, namely descriptive statistical analysis and inferential analysis which consists of 3 tests, namely normality test, variance homogeneity test and t-test. From thet-test data obtained thitung = 3,35 dan ttabel = 1,998 (thitung > ttabel). Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematics learning outcomes of class IX students at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu.
