Abstract

Pekanbaru is one of the major cities in Indonesia, the center of all economic, social and cultural activities. The geographical condition of Pekanbaru is quite strategic, making it one of the factors for Riau Province to become an entry point for drug trafficking. This situation certainly has an impact on the city of Pekanbaru which is the Central of Riau Province. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the implementation of self-reliance coaching and what are the obstacles in the implementation of self-reliance coaching in the class IIB Rumbai narcotics correctional institution. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the implementation of self-reliance development in the class IIB Rumbai narcotics correctional institution. The approach method used is descriptive or describing, conducting and summarizing research findings based on observations, accompanied by conclusions. Then analyzed based on criminological theories such as Social Reintegration theory, Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that fostering independence in the Class IIB Rumbai narcotics correctional institution is quite effective, because it can prepare and provide prisoners with work experience while serving their sentences and the obstacles to fostering this independence in addition to lack of funds and officers, the willingness that arises from the prisoners themselves is also very necessary for the progress of the independence coaching program. Thus, this research is expected to make a positive contribution to the implementation of self-reliance coaching in the class IIB Rumbai narcotics correctional institution. As well as being a reference for further research in the same field.
