Abstract

Based on a preliminary study conducted at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City, there were still some students who had low creative thinking skills. The writer found several symptoms in the field, such as: the students had difficulty generating many ideas in a short time, they tended to have monotonous and unvaried thinking, they had low creativity in projects or assignments that they did, and they tended to provide shallow answers or explanations. The problem formulation of the study was whether the implementation of Project-Based Learning model could improve the students’ creative thinking skills in learning Aqidah Akhlak in grade X at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City. This study aimed to investigate the implementation of ProjectBased Learning model to improve students’ creative thinking skills in learning Aqidah Akhlak in grade X at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City. The type of the study was Classroom Action Research. This study was conducted in two observation cycles with the procedures of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data collection techniques of the study were observation and documentation. Then the data was analyzed by using the formula P = ?. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model could improve the students’ creative thinking skills in learning Aqidah Akhlak in grade X at MAN 2 Pekanbaru City. This was known from the results of the percentage of students’ creative thinking skills after implementing the Project-based Learning model which increased continously from the initial condition of only 40% or in the "Low" category, then in cycle 1 with a percentage of 53.12% or in the "Medium" category and in cycle 2 with a percentage of 88.12% or in the "Very High" category.
