Abstract

Based on a preliminary study conducted at SMPN 6 Kandis, there were still some students who had low learning creativity. The researcher found several symptoms, namely: some students felt indifferent during the learning process, they still had low curiosity, they still had a low sense of responsibility, they lacked initiative to read textbooks to be studied in the next meeting, they were less brave in conveying concepts and ideas, and they lacked confidence in answering questions. The problem formulation of the study was what the efforts made by the Islamic Studies teachers in improving students’ learning creativity at SMPN 6 Kandis. The type of this study was qualitative with a case study approach. The data collection techniques of the study were interviews and documentation. After the data were obtained, then they were processed and analyzed by the stages of data reduction, data display and verification, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study were: First, the Islamic Studies teachers began learning by reading a prayer and giving ice breaking. Second, the Islamic Studies teachers tried to ask questions at the beginning of learning to arouse students’ curiosity. Third, the Islamic Studies teachers tried to give assignments independently and in groups to each student. Fourth, the Islamic Studies teachers tried to give questions that can be answered by the students by thinking flexibly. Fifth, the Islamic Studies teachers gave students the opportunity to express their ideas. Sixth, the Islamic Studies teachers always advised the students to do work independently. Seventh, the Islamic Studies teachers tried to make students happy to do new things. Eighth, the Islamic Studies teachers conducted a post-test after the learning ended. Then several other efforts were found, namely: First, the Islamic Studies teachers implemented a practical method by slaughtering chickens on the subject of sacrifice. Second, the Islamic Studies teachers used a group method and presentations carried out in front of the class.
