Abstract

The level of income received by oil palm farmers will determine the level of household consumption or expenditure. When household expenses for oil palm farmers are greater than their income, it will have an impact on the decline in the household economy. This study aims to analyze: (1) Characteristics of oil palm smallholders and profile of oil palm farming (2) structur is the income of oil palm smallholder households (3) Distribution of income and expenditure of oil palm smallholder households (4) The poverty rate of oil palm smallholder households in Kandis District, Siak Regency. The sampling technique was carried out by simple random sampling. Based on the preliminary survey, there were 415 smallholder oil palm farmers in Sam-sam Village, Belutu Village, and Sungai Gondang Village with a plant age criterion of 10-15 years. Each respondent was taken as a random sample, where the first respondent was 2 households, the second respondent was 43 households and the third respondent was taken as many as 15 households. total number of household samples is 60 households. The analytical tools in this study are descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results of this study are (1) Farmer characteristics such as oil palm farmer age with an average of 47.58 years (15 - 64 years), Oil palm smallholders' educational experience with an average of 10 years, Oil palm smallholder farming experience with an average 17.45 years (> 3 years), The number of dependents of a family of oil palm farmers with an average of 4 people, (2) The largest household income for oil palm is in farming income, which is IDR 89,393,343/year or 79.85% (3) Distribution of Income and Expenditure of coconut farmer households oil palm each farmer has earned the same income with the midpoint of the equity line showing 50% of the total income has been distributed evenly for 50% of the number of farmers receiving 36.74% share of the total income. This shows that there is a space created between the equalization line and the Lorenz curve line. (4) When compared with the World Bank's criteria (2006), namely US $ 1, on average the life of oil palm farmers in Kandis District is in the category of not poor or a decent life. The average annual income is IDR 111,945,892, while the per capita income per year is IDR 22,389,178.4, with the equivalent of rice in the study area of ??2,035.38 kg/capita/year, for monthly per capita income that is IDR 1,865,764 .87 with the rice equivalent of 169.61 kg/capita/month, while per capita income per week is Rp. 466,441.22 with the rice equivalent of 42.40 kg/capita/week and per capita income per day is Rp. 66,634.46 with rice equivalent 6.06 kg/capita/day.
