Abstract

Teratak Buluh Village is one of the tilapia producing villages in Siak Hulu District. This study aims to identify and analyze: (1) farmer characteristics and tilapia business profile; (2) cultivation techniques, use of production factors, costs, production, income and business efficiency; (3) sources of production risk in the tilapia business. The method used is a survey method in the village of Teratak Buluh. Respondents used as many as 3 people. The analysis used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The research results show (1) The average age of tilapia farmers in Teratak Buluh Village is 40.33 years (Productive), the average length of farmer education is 12 years (SMA), the average business experience is 6.67 years, the average the number of dependents of tilapia farming families is 4 people. The form of tilapia business is an individual, the scale of the tilapia business is a micro business and the average capital used is IDR 26,546,504.33 which comes from personal capital. (2) The cultivation technic used is pond preparation, seed dispersal, feeding and harvesting which is in accordance with the theory used. The average pond area is 39 m², the average use of tilapia fingerlings is 2,283 individuals, the average use of labor using labor outside the family is 17 HOK, labor within the family is 15.33 HOK, the average the use of feed is 1,232.80 kg, the average total cost of production is IDR 21,231.504,33, the average amount of harvested tilapia is 1,299.48 kg, the selling price of tilapia is 340 per kg, the average revenue from the business tilapia is IDR 44,182,320.00, the average net income is IDR 22,754.310,91 in one production period and the RCR value is 2.1. The RCR value> 1 means that the tilapia business is profitable and feasible to cultivate. (3) The sources of production risk found in the tilapia business in Teratak Buluh Village are Seed Quality, Weather, Fertilizer Poisoning. (4) The strategy adopted by farmers in dealing with sources of production risk is risk avoidance (preventive), namely preparing ponds and administering probiotics, mitigation strategies, namely collaborating with tilapia seed cultivation and improving human resource skills.
