Abstract

Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) is considered as a promising method for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). The ASP method involves injection of surfactant, alkali and polymer solutions into a reservoir. A mixture of surfactants and alkali forms an emulsion with oil while the polymer will increase sweep efficiency. In ASP injection, problems such as adsorption can reduce the performance of ASP, therefore it is necessary to monitor ion movement to see the effectiveness of the injection fluid. The research began with modeling using sandstone and injection fluids, including sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) for alkalis, alkylbenzene sulfonate (ABS) for surfactants, and hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) for polymers. Reservoir simulation is carried out to simulate reservoir conditions, using the CMG GEM 2020 simulator. The results obtained are that the direction of fluid flow is as expected, fluid or ions flow from the injection well. starting at the bottom layer, where SO42- ions in the graph show an increase during ASP injection in 2025 and a decrease after water injection in 2027 but not significant. In contrast to Na+ ions, from the start water flooding was carried out and after ASP injection was carried out it had decreased because Na+ ions which were emulsified with Ao- were also produced. The use of varying concentrations of alkali and injection flow rates affects the adsorption value of the alkaline polymer surfactant (ASP) injection process.
