Abstract

This study is motivated by the problem of low student participation in learning Islamic Studies at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of brainstorming method on student participation in learning Islamic Studies at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. The type of the study is quantitative with a correlational approach. The sample of the study is the entire population with a total of 75 students. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis techniques of the study are the normality test and the simple linear regression test. The results of the study show that there is a significant influence of the brainstorming method (X) on the student participation (Y) at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru. Based on the results of ANOVA test showing that the significance value is less than 0.05, or 0.000 <0.05, it means that Ha is accepted. The coefficient (R) value is 0.959 (95.9%), it means that the brainstorming method has an influence on student participation in learning Islamic Studies at SMP IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru by 95.9% which is included in the range of 0.80 -1,000 with a very strong category. The results of the calculation of coefficient model summary show that the coefficient value (R-Squared) is 0.919, the magnitude of the influence of the brainstorming method on student participation is 0.919 or 91.9%. Based on the correlation coefficient interval table, it can be categorized that the relationship between variable Y and variable X is very strong, because the value of R (0.919) is in the range 0.80 – 1.000. So, the relationship between the brainstorming method and the student learning participation is very strong.
