Abstract
The use of plastic in daily life has increased the amount of plastic waste in Indonesia. Besides plastic, iron powder waste is one of the problems in environmental sustainability. This study aims to determine the characteristics of Marshall in the mixture of Laston (AC-BC) with the addition of HDPE plastic and iron filings. The addition of polymers increases the strength of asphalt, the increase in asphalt strength will increase the resistance of the mixture to rutting from hot temperatures and weather. This research was conducted using the marshall testbased on the specifications used in bina clan 2018 with variations in aspalt content of 4,5%,5%,5,5%,6%,and 6,5% as well as HDPE plastic waste 0%,2%,4% and 6% with iron powder filler 22%. From the results of the analysis, the optimum asphalt content value that meets the requirements of the asphalt mixture criteria according to the 2018 Bina Marga specification is 5.8%. The addition of High Density Polythylene (HDPE) plastic of 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6% calculated from the total weight of mixed aggregates and Iron Powder 22% of the total weight of mixed aggregate stone ash. From the test results and Marshall analysis, the addition of High Density Polythylene (HDPE) plastic and Iron Powder in the laston asphalt mixture obtained a high stability value. The largest stability value is at 6% plastic content that is 3034.67 kg. From the research results, Marshall parameters such as VMA and Flow meet the requirements of Bina Marga 2018 Specifications. As for VFA and Vim tend not to meet the requirements of Bina Marga 2018 specifications.
