Abstract

The backgrounds of the study are that there are some teachers who lack discipline, class management is not good, some teachers do not master the material to be taught, some teachers are not good at applying IT, and some teachers teach the subjects not in accordance with their educational backgrounds. The aim of the study is to investigate the level of influence of the principal’s managerial competence on teacher professionalism at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Hasanah Pekanbaru. This is a quantitative study with a correlational approach. The population of the study is all teachers at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Hasanah Pekanbaru, totaling 36 people. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires and documentation. Based on the results of simple linear regression analysis with a significance value of 0.000, which is 0.000 <0.05, so Ha is accepted, it means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted. So, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the principal’s managerial competence on teacher professionalism at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Hasanah Pekanbaru. The level of principal’s managerial competence in improving teacher professionalism at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Hasanah Pekanbaru (Variable X) is 53.76% which is included in the low category, while the level of teacher professionalism (Variable Y) at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Hasanah Pekanbaru is 97.26% with a very good category. The magnitude of the influence of the principal's managerial competence is 0.440 or 44.0% with a fairly strong category.
