Abstract
This research is motivated by the ability of students who are less able to think at a higher level. This is because the learning model used by the teacher is only limited to training low-level abilities. This study aims to determine differences in higher order thinking skills after using the Problem Based Learning model on students' higher order thinking abilities. The study was conducted using a quasi-experimental method, as well as a Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The results showed that the application of the Problem Based Learning model in class XI at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu could improve students' higher order thinking skills. This is evidenced by analyzing the data using the t-test statistical formula at the level ɑ = 0.05 with degrees of freedom (db) 26 from the distribution table, the results obtained are t table = 1.70 while t count = 22.76 so that t count ≥ t table and it can be concluded that this study was declared successful (Ha Accepted). So it can be concluded that there are significant differences in learning using the Problem Based Learning model at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu.
