Abstract

The presence of foreigners in Indonesia influences immigration regulations and policies. The presence and activies of foreigners in Indonesia territory can be determined by the type of visa used in Indonesia, related to the aim and purpose oftheir presence, namely to travel, work and live in Indonesia. A residence permit is a permit given to foreigners by immigration officials to be in Indonesia territory. However, in practice, there is often misuse of residence permits are overstayed. The aim of this research is to find out how the foreign citizen residence permit policy is implemented at the TPI Class I immigration office in Pekanbaru City. This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach, collecting data by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research obtained are that the Implementation of the foreign citizen residence permit policy at the TPI class I immigration office in Pekanbaru Cityhas gone quite well, but there is still a lack of overall supervisionThis had an impact on the residence permits of foreign nationals who overstay because they are unable to pay the fees charged day if their residence permit period is overstayed. However, for foreign nationals who work in companies and have a person in charge, there are rarely problems with their residence permits, because the company is responsible for the residence permits of foreign nationals who work in their company.
