Abstract
Citronella oil is a processed product derived from the citronella plant, presenting a profitable business opportunity. This research aims to analyze: 1) the characteristics of entrepreneurs and employees, as well as the business profile of the Mesra Oil citronella oil agroindustry; 2) the procurement of production inputs, the use of production inputs, production technology, costs, production, income, efficiency, break-even point (BEP), and added value of the Mesra Oil citronella oil agroindustry, and 3) the marketing of Mesra Oil citronella oil. This study employs a case study method in Tanjung Rhu Village, Limapuluh District, Pekanbaru City. The respondents in this research are the entrepreneur and two employees. The data used are sourced from primary and secondary data and analyzed descriptively, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The Hayami method is used for value-added analysis. The research results show that the respondents are of productive age, with an average education of 11 years, experienced, and have few dependents. This business has been running for three years as a household industry with a personal capital of Rp 164,610,000, employing two people. The production process includes weighing, distillation, cooling, separation, and packaging, using 40 kg of raw materials per production cycle. Supporting materials include 37.50 liters of water, 8 kg of firewood, and 0.25 liters of diesel fuel. The fixed cost is Rp 48,873.84, and the variable cost is Rp 114,083.33 per production cycle. Production reaches 36 liters per cycle with a gross income of Rp 360,000.00 and a net income of Rp 197,042.83 per cycle. The break-even price (BEP) is Rp 4,526.59, and the BEP unit is 16.30, with an efficiency of 2.21. The added value per kilogram is Rp 4,316.67, with a ratio of 47.96%. Mesra Oil's marketing uses intermediary traders with two channels. The marketing cost is Rp 5,500 per liter for channel I and Rp 2,500 per liter for channel II, including packaging and transportation costs. The marketing margin is Rp 7,000 per liter for channel I and Rp 2,500 per liter for channel II, with a profit margin of Rp 1,500 per liter for channel I and a marketing efficiency of 55% for channel I and 25% for channel II.
