Abstract
Counterproductive work behavior is a behavioral distortion occuring at work environment which can influence work productivity and impacts on oneself, colleagues, or organization. Gratefulness is predicted able to decrease negative behavioral distortion at workplace. This research aims to know the correlation between gratefulness and counterproductive work behavior. The population in this research were the staff of Department of Social Services Riau Province with the total samples in the amount of 119 subjects taken by using simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted by using two scales; counterproductive work behavior scale and gratefulness scale. Data were analyzed by using product moment correlational analysis. The results show that there is negatively significant correlation between gratefulness and counterproductive work behavior in the amount of (R =-.535, p < .05). Effective contribution given by variable gratefulness towards counterproductive work behavior is in the amount of 28.6 percent, the rest is influenced by other variables.
