Abstract
Dynamic change has not only occured in business and governmental organization, but also in higher education. The implication is not merely practical, but also can be studied psychologically. This study aims to examine the impact of status quo behavior towards change resistence in private higher education, including to observe lecturer’s demographic role namely gender and lecturing tenor in the context of status quo and change resistence intensity. Data were collected from 100 lecturers by using questionaires. Hypotheses tested by employing descriptive statistic, simple linier regression, and Kruskal Wallis. The descriptive test result indicates that lecturer’s status quo behavior is relatively moderate with low level of change resistence. The regression test result proves the positive and significant impact of status quo towards the intensity of change resistence. Kruskal Wallis test shows no significant difference towards status quo behavior and change resistence intensity among male and female lecturers. Meanwhile, in Islamic perspective, positive change is considered to be the main key in achieving significant progress, improvement, and innovation, meanwhhile lecturing tenor gives a significant difference towards change resistence intentisty, eventhough it is not significantly different towards status quo behavior.
