Abstract

Well X is a production well which currently has a water cut value of 88% so it has been identified as experiencing water coning. There are several parameters that influence the occurrence of water coning, including the depth of the perforation point, the distance between the perforation point and the water oil contact. Breakthrough time is the first time water enters the perforation zone. This research aims to understand the relationship between perforation depth in well X and the cumulative value of oil and breakthrough time. The method used in this research is CMG 2015 reservoir simulation software by varying the perforation depth in well X to see the impact on water production and breakthrough time. Reservoir simulation was carried out on 10 case data, namely 1 base case to 9 scenarios. The parameter that differentiates each case is the depth of the perforation. Where the depth of the top perforation interval from the base case to scenario 9 is 6000 ft to 6090 ft. After carrying out the Reservoir Simulation, it was found that the respective Breaktrough Time from basecase to scenario 9 was 547 days, up to 0.01 days. This means that the lower the depth of the well X perforation, the later the Breaktrough (delayed BT) will occur. Then it was also found that the cumulative value of oil from the base case to scenario 9 was 775. Up to 359.63 Mbbl. From these results it can also be interpreted that, with the lower the perforation depth of well X, the higher the cumulative oil recovery from well X.
