Abstract

Developments in hot press machines using a hydraulic system to control the DC motor work process automatically, resulting in more optimal performance in recycling plastic waste and providing benefits, one of which is a machine for processing plastic waste which can reduce environmental pollution. This research was conducted to develop a hydraulic system hot press machine. This research carried out the development of a hot press machine using a hydraulic jack with a capacity of 2 tonnes and the type of plastic recycled was HDPE. The pressure result of the hydraulic system hot press machine for plastic waste recycling is 5.16 MPa. The total electrical power used in developing the hydraulic system hot press machine for plastic waste recycling is 285 Watt. The shear stress that occurs in the tool is 13.15 N. /mm2. From the allowable shear stress for SS400 type material which has a maximum shear stress of 23.5 N/mm2. The shear stress of the welded section is 11.83 N/mm2 < 23.5 N/mm2 (strength of the welded joint between the frame safely to withstand the load) and the production capacity resulting from the development of a hydraulic system hot press machine for recycling plastic waste is 0.052 gr/second. Because production capacity is influenced by production weight and operating time, the greater the production weight and the smaller the operating time, the greater the production capacity produced.
