Abstract
This research was motivated by the low reading skills of the Al-Qur’an among students at Al Fityah Junior High School in Pekanbaru. Heutagogical method was a learning method where teachers and students learned together. Although various studies have been conducted on the reading skills of the Al-Qur’an, the same issue was observed at Al Fityah Junior High School in Pekanbaru. The problem of low reading skills among students was assumed to be addressed by using the heutagogical method to develop their reading skills of the Al-Qur’an. The heutagogical method was found to improve students' ability to read the AlQur’an. The benefits gained by students after using the heutagogical method included reading the Al-Qur’an smoothly, according to Tajwid rules, with proper pronunciation, increased motivation to read more, reading the Al-Qur’an after studying, and having more memorization. This improvement was attributed to students' high motivation to learn, their belief in the importance of reading the AlQur’an, their motivation to master reading skills, and their enjoyment of learning using mobile learning media such as WhatsApp, Google Meet, and YouTube. The reading skills of students at Al Fityah Junior High School were classified as moderate, and further training and deeper understanding of punctuation, Tajwid, letters, and rhythm in reading the Al-Qur’an were necessary. There was an improvement in the reading skills of Al-Qur’an among 7th -grade students at Al Fityah Junior High School after using the heutagogical learning method. The partial test analysis yielded a significance value of less than 0.05 with b = 0.323. Thus, it can be concluded that there was a significant and positive influence of the heutagogical method in improving the reading skills of the Al-Qur’an among 7thgrade students at Al Fityah Junior High School in Pekanbaru. Ha was accepted while Ho was rejected.
