Abstract

This research aims to explore the syndicated phenomenon of mobile phone (HP) theft crimes with a focus on case studies of perpetrators in Perawang Village, Tualang District. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and direct observation. This research explores the social, economic, and environmental backgrounds of the perpetrators, as well as the internal dynamics of the syndicate that influence their crime patterns. The results of the research show that the crime syndication of cell phone theft in Perawang Village does not only involve several perpetrators, but is also the result of a well-organized network and careful planning before committing the crime. Factors that influence the formation of this syndication include the economic conditions of the local community. , where poverty and economic inequality are the main triggers. In addition, social factors such as lack of access to education and limited employment opportunities also play a role in strengthening bonds between individuals in this crime syndication. The poorly maintained environment and minimal security supervision in Perawang Village also provide opportunities for perpetrators to carry out their criminal acts without being detected. In terms of the internal dynamics of syndication, the findings show that financial motivation is the main driving factor for perpetrators to get involved in this criminal syndication. Apart from that, technical ability in planning and carrying out criminal acts is also an important consideration in recruiting new members and maintaining the sustainability of the syndication. This research provides a deeper understanding of the dynamics of syndicated cellphone theft crimes in the Perawang Village area and provides important implications in efforts to prevent and overcome the criminal act. By understanding the root causes and factors that influence the sustainability of this syndication, it is hoped that more effective preventive and intervention steps can be taken to reduce crime rates and increase the level of security in society.
