Abstract

In Pekanbaru City, there are a lot of tourism potential at the Senapelan District. The phenomenon indicate that the tourism potential has not been managed maximal. Tourism potential of this Senapelan District, should be used optimally and give a positive impact and sustainable results. The purpose of this study is to formulate a strategy in the development of tourism potential Senapelan District in order to serve as a tourist destination in the city of Pekanbaru. This research use a descriptive qualitative research methods. Data collected by using observations, questionnaires and interviews. A questionnaire was conducted on the tourists who visit, the interview to the relevant government officials and community leaders in the District Senapelan, to formulate tourism development strategy is conducted SWOT analysis techniques. The results showed that Senapelan District is a tourist area with huge potential to be developed, there are several contributing factors and obstacles in the development of these attractions. From these factors can be formulated several strategies to develop the tourism potential of this, including the improvement of facilities and infrastructure in the tourist area of Chinatown and the development of tourism infrastructure.
