Abstract

The dense population growth in Pekanbaru City makes more and more piles of waste produced. Garbage is a crucial problem faced by Pekanbaru City. Waste in Pekanbaru City can be transported, but there are still some shortcomings that can interfere with the process of managing waste transportation from the source of the waste to the TPA. So that there is a buildup of garbage in several places such as markets, housing and protocol roads. This study aims to analyze and determine the procedures for transporting waste from TPS to TPA and determine the volume and characteristics of the waste heap in Pekanbaru city. The method used in this study uses survey methods and literature studies. This study uses primary and secondary data including the daily volume of waste at each TPS, the number of waste transportation equipment, the capacity of the waste transportation equipment and the transportation route. This research is located in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. To be precise, there are 4 sub-districts in Pekanbaru City which include Tenayan Raya District, Payung Sekaki District, Sukajadi District and Tampan District. The results showed that the total daily waste volume of Pekanbaru City in Tenayan Raya District was 13.756 m3/day, in Payung Sekaki District was 6.370 m3/day, in Sukajadi District was 6.818 m3/day, and Tampan District was 11.422 m3/day. The operational system of waste transportation management in Pekanbaru City in the four sub-districts reviewed was carried out in the morning at 07.00 to 12.00 AM. using a 2-axis light truck transporting 9 m3 of 12 units for each work area. The conclusion of this study is that the volume of waste piles in Pekanbaru City is quite high where the total pile of waste is 38,3660 m3/day. The distribution of transportation equipment in the Pekanbaru City waste transportation system is in accordance with the amount of waste produced.
