Abstract

Garbage is a problem that has a major impact on human life. In waste management, it is inseparable from the activity of transporting waste from the location of the waste collection which is directly carried out in the community by coordinating, sorting, collecting, transporting and processing the final waste, of course this aims so that waste can be transported without causing accumulation. The implementation of waste management by the Dumai City Environmental Service in East Dumai District is still not optimally implemented because there are still obstacles including the lack of/limited implementing support facilities which are inadequate so that the handling of waste management services in the City of Dumai does not run optimally. The research objective is to find out and analyze the Evaluation of Dumai City Environmental Service Implementation in Waste Management in East Dumai District. This study uses a qualitative approach. There were 7 informants in this study with the Head of the Environmental Service as the key informant. Data collection techniques by interviews and data analysis using techniques developed on the Miles and Huberman websites. Based on the research results, it is known that the City Government of Dumai, especially the East Dumai District, in waste management is quite optimal, but in fact it has not been able to combat the waste problem. While in reality the amount of waste generated is increasing every day. Technically, the City of Dumai Environment Service (DLH) handles the waste problem by collecting it, storing it in Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS), and bringing it to the TPA. Such a flow of work will result in obstacles, one of which is insufficient shelters and various other problems that can be experienced. So it is hoped that the Government is expected to activate socialization regarding the importance of healthy living and the dangers of waste in life, so that it can increase public awareness not to litter.
