Abstract

The surprising statement that came out from a President to intervene in the election process created noise as evidenced by the large amount of discussion in the media regarding this matter. Kompas TV also took advantage of this situation which resulted in the heating up of the Indonesian political climate ahead of the 2024 Election by making an episode entitled Election 2024, Issue of Leaking MK Decision to Cawe-Cawe Jokowi on the ROSI program. This research is aimed at analyzing the talk show using critical discourse analysis using Teun A. van Dijk's model which divides discourse into dimensions of text, social context and social cognition. This research uses qualitative methods by observing subjects in the data search process. The results of this research show that in the text dimension, Prof. Jimly stated that the attitude declared by Jokowi as the number one person in the Republic of Indonesia did not violate the rules or violate the law. However, this statement scratched a big wound in matters of political ethics. In the dimension of social cognition, this discourse reflects the ideology of the authorities who try to justify the involvement of the President on the grounds of ensuring honest and fair elections. In this interview, Prof. Jimly expressed his disagreement with the practice of “Cawe-cawe” which is considered to violate ethics even though it does not violate legal regulations. Meanwhile, the social context, the discussion presented in this episode covers the socio-political context of Indonesia, such as feudal culture and weak political institutions, which influence public perceptions of the president's involvement in the elections.
