Abstract

This study aims to analyze community empowerment around tourist objects by utilizing social capital in developing tourist objects. The Covid 19 pandemic that occurred had an impact on tourist attractions, the number of tourists visiting dropped drastically, this caused the economic conditions of the surrounding community to decline. This condition requires community empowerment so that people are more active and participatory in managing tourist objects. The development of tourism objects based on community empowerment will have an impact on increasing the income and economy of the people around these tourist objects. The problem is how the community utilizes existing social capital for the development of tourist attractions. The method used is interpretive qualitative, in gathering information using primary data obtained through observation and in-depth interviews. To obtain valid and credible results, triangulation techniques are used. The results of the study show that community empowerment by utilizing social capital contributes to the development of tourist attractions, social capital in the form of networks built online and offline by the community around the tourist attraction, communication with stakeholders and the private sector, the existence of trust built by the community and openness to tourist attraction development.
