Abstract

This research is Communication Research in critical rhetoric that discusses fantasy developed in the communication phenomenon using digital containers in podcast activities. The fantasy theme, which is the basis for thinking in this research, will be guided by using the theory of symbolic convergence with the fantasy theme analysis method to reveal the fantasy created by podcasters and the ability of that fantasy to become a symbolic reality in the podcast content that is streamed. In this effort, this research involved eight podcasters and four podcasters. The type of fantasy created through podcast content consists of comedy for life, parenting, and history. This type of fantasy was created using the symbolic phrase of the local Pekanbaru dialect. The fantasy theme that becomes a symbolic reality on the subject is an intellectual product which is the ability of each podcaster to create fantasy with social cohesion. This research produces a digital communication model, namely the block model, a form of fantasy interaction from symbolic reality from the fantasy theme analysis carried out in this study.
