Abstract

The Pekanbaru Gamer Community is a forum that accommodates gamers who live in Pekanbaru, where there are 3 active communities in Pekanbaru. Starting from the Pekanbaru Freefire Community, Infinity E-Sport Team (Pekanbaru Mobile Legends Community), and also the Pekanbaru PUBG Mobile Community. Not only providing facilities, these communities also bridge Gamers in Pekanbaru into the competitive arena by holding various matches, so the athletes are born. To become an athlete, gamers must have high self-control so they don't get the negative effects of playing games, one of which is online game addiction. This study aims to determine whether self-control affects online game addiction in the z generation of the Pekanbaru gamer community. The subjects in this study were 243 people. The sampling technique is snowball sampling. The data collection method uses a self-control scale and an online game addiction scale. Data analysis technique using Simple Linear Regression. Based on the results of the Simple Linear Regression test, an R Square value of 0.089 was obtained with a significance (p <0.000). This shows that there is a negative influence of 9% by self-control on online game addiction in Generation Z in the Pekanbaru Gamer Community. Which is, the higher the level of self-control, the lower the level of addiction to online games. Conversely, the lower the level of self-control, the higher the level of addiction to online games in Generation Z in the Pekanbaru Gamer Community.
