Abstract

Marriage between ethnic groups is a prohibited act in Kiyap Jaya Village, Bandar Seikijang District, Pelalawan Regency. Even though this is prohibited, this is ignored, this is done because the community does not follow the customary rules regarding prohibited marriages at all. This is because society no longer considers interracial marriage to be an important issue and views this as a myth. There are many illegal marriages carried out by people in various regions of Indonesia. The research method used is empirical research. Based on the results of the research, the author found that the factors that lead to inter-tribe marriages are not understanding the customary laws that apply in their area, not knowing the origins of the tribe, parents who do not provide enough information or learning about the customs and customs of their area to children and teenagers. -teenagers who don't want to know customs or laws, never take part in tribal events, have been in a dating relationship for a long time, and prioritize modern lifestyles and ignore traditional provisions
