Abstract

Among students, Instagram has become much-needed entertainment and has become a social life for its users. But unfortunately, there are still many Instagram users who feel less confident to show their true self-disclosure. In Indonesia, it is still easy to ridicule other people for no apparent reason. Moreover, considering that using Instagram requires achieving a sense of psychological well-being. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a relationship between self-disclosure and psychological well- being in Riau Islamic University students who use Instagram. Subjects in this study were 373 students. the sampling technique is simple random sampling. The data collection method uses a psychological well-being scale and self-disclosure scale. The results of this study use the product moment correlation. based on product moment analysis, a coefficient value of 0.489 was obtained with a sig value of 0.000 (p <0.05) meaning that there is relationship between self-disclosure and psychological well-being in Riau Islamic University students using Instagram of 0.489, which means that the degree of relationship between the two is correlated.
