Abstract

Code mixing is the mixing of languages in a sentence or utterance from two different languages, one dominant language and another language used as an insert. Most Indonesians use code mixing in their daily lives because it becomes their habit as bilingual people. This study aimed to analyze and described the forms of Indonesian-English code mixing used on Instagram captions of Indonesian influencers. The design of this study was descriptive with qualitative method. The source of the data in this study was captions of pictures and videos on their Instagram account that related to code mixing. The data analysis wataken from December 1st, 2022 to January 31st, 2023. The result of the study showed that there were one hundred and nine code mixing found on Instagram captions of four Indonesian influencers which are divided into six forms of code mixing. Code mixing insertion of word is the most frequently used which there were fifty-one data, the second was insertion of phrase with thirty-seven data, the third was insertion of hybrid with eleven data, insertion of clause with six data,insertion of word reduplication with three data, and the lowest code mixing used was insertion of idiom only one data found.
