Abstract

Self-compassion is self-acceptance or self-attention to a failure or situation that is being experienced. Loneliness can be experienced by anyone, including overseas students. which can result in similarities, namely the movement of students to a new environment or place. This research aims to determine the influence of selfcompassion and balance on overseas students at Riau Islamic University. The subjects of this research were 385 active students at Riau Islamic University. The sampling technique in this research used a probability sampling technique, namely insidental sampling. The data collection process uses two scales, namely, the Selfcompassion scale compiled by Furnawati (2020) which has 36 items and the equality scale compiled by Ningsih (2021) which has 19 items. Meanwhile, the statistical data analysis used in this research is Pearson product moment correlation method where the results show a correlation coefficient value of - 0,644 with p of 0,000 (p<0.05). It can be concluded that there is a negative and significant connection between self-compassion and loneliness among overseas students at Riau Islamic University, with the correlation value being negative, meaning that the higher the self-compassion in students, the lower the loneliness in students. On the other hand, it can also be said that the lower the selfcompassion. self-compassion among students means loneliness among students is getting higher.
