Abstract

Writing textbooks is an activity that requires diligence and seriousness for teachers. Teachers lack the opportunity to compile subject teaching materials so they need assistance from outsiders or fellow teachers. The purpose of this community service activity (PkM) is to assist Junior High School (SMP) teachers in Siak district in writing and compiling English textbooks integrated with Malay Culture of Riau (BMR). The targeted output is in the form of teaching material products from teachers (PkM participants) at least 1 person consisting of 1 unit or chapter. In addition, other output targets are articles published in nationally accredited community service journals and local mass media (Riau Pos). The PkM activity plan is carried out through three stages, namely the preparation, training and mentoring stages. In the preparation stage, the PkM team prepared several activities, namely the schedule of activities for 2 months, the number of participants, the whatsapp group, a list of English materials that can be integrated with the Malay culture of Riau, text sources, relevant images and so on. The PkM team provides mentoring materials in the form of text presentations using powerpoint. In addition, participant attendance is prepared manually and a certificate of mentoring.
