Abstract

Whether we realize it or not, everyday life involves a lot of music, the strains of music are packaged by combining the song lyrics of each stanza so that the lyrics of the song can become a continuous whole, so the message conveyed can be well received by the audience. The song from Clean Bandit in collaboration with Anne Marie & Sean Paul with the title "Rockabye" is a song that has a meaning that tells the story of a single mother in the conditions experienced by many single mothers. The purpose of this study is to find out Discourse Analysis where there is a single mother meaning in the lyrics of the song "Rockabye" by Clean Bandit and Anne Marie which is based on the discourse study of Teun A. Van Dijk. In conducting this research, using a descriptive qualitative methodology aims to describe what happened in the study. The results show that the meaning of single mother in the lyrics of the song "Rockabye" can be seen from the structure of the text, social cognition and social context presented in the lyrics of the song "Rockabye" by Clean Bandit and Anne Marie with critical discourse analysis of van Dijk's model. In the analysis of the structure of the text, there are general ideas or themes that are trying to be displayed and raised in the lyrics of the song "Rockabye", namely the role played by a single mother towards her family and also her child.
