Abstract

Coconut plant is a multipurpose plant that has high economic value where all parts can be used for human benefit. Coconut commodity as one of the trading commodities is closely related to the selling price in the market and the factors that influence it. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the selling price of coconut, while specifically this study aims to analyze: (1) Characteristics of coconut farmers; (2) Description of the coconut trade; (3) Factors influencing the selling price of coconut in Kotabaru Reteh Village, Keritang District. The method used in this research is a survey method. The location of the research was carried out in Kotabaru Reteh Village, Keritang District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. This research was carried out for 6 months starting from May to October 2021. The sampling technique was using simple random sampling as many as 30 coconut farmers. Sources of data used are primary data obtained directly from respondents. Data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression with OLS (Ordinary Least Suare) estimation method. The results showed that (1) The average age of farmers in Keritang Subdistrict was below 60 years, which means that the farmers were of productive age, the education level of farmers was 9 years, the experience of husbandry was 15 years, the number of family dependents was 7 people. (2) The trade description shows that the price selling coconuts on farms is mostly sold by farmers at a price of Rp. 1.548-1.551 as many as 9 farmers, the quality of coconuts that meet the requirements is 18 or 60%, the production of coconut production is 2.500-4.500 fruit coconuts with 15 farmers, the transportation costs for farmers are at most 100-150 fruit, most of the farming in Keritang District is mostly applying the bonded system with a total of 17 farmers or 56.67% and the number of collectors/middlemen in farming in Keritang District totaling 5 people as many as 30 people, (3) The factors that influence the selling price of coconut in Kota Baru Reteh Village, Keritang District are quality coconut, and the application of the bondage system. While other variables such as coconut production and transportation costs have no significant effect.
