Abstract

Indonesians generally recognize vigilante behavior as an arbitrary act perpetrated against an individual or group of people, carried out by means of hurting, troubling, crushing and so on. If viewed from its origin, vigilante behavior in the international world is interpreted as a deliberate and cruel deprivation of basic rights which is contrary to international law on the grounds of group identity. The act of vigilantism undermines the morale of society. In Indonesia itself, there is a law that regulates this eigenrecting or vigilante action. Eigenrecting is an act that violates the law and is also against human rights. The purpose of this article is to know how is the strategy to prevent the eigenrechthing in Kampar community. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, in which at this stage the author conducts interviews with related informants. The results of this study are that eigenrechting cases often occur in Kampar Regency. There are several prevention strategies for eigenrechting behavior, including providing education or understanding to the surrounding community regarding the criminal justice process with the aim of minimizing eigenrechting behavior in the community.
