Abstract

In Indonesia, most of the energy that is widely used is oil and gas. The availability of oil and gas has now decreased considerably, which has resulted in rare supplies of oil and gas being encountered in society and having high prices. The soaring selling price of oil and gas made people complain to buy it. In addition, the use of oil and gas can also cause contamination. For this reason, renewable energy is the best solution, one of the renewable energies that can be used is water energy. Water energy can be harnessed and used in the form of mechanical energy and electrical energy. The turbine used in this test is the vertical axis savonius bach turbine. The Savonius water turbine has a very simple shape and construction which is very easy to make. The purpose of this study was to find out how the effect of the number of blades and additional equipment on the performance of the vertical axis savonius bach turbine, as well as to obtain the number of blades and additional equipment that produces the best performance on the vertical axis savonius bach turbine. The research was carried out in the waters of the Kampar City river Bangkinang district. Salo, Sipungguk Village on January 20-25 2022. The results showed that the increase in the number of blades and additional equipment had an influence on the performance of the vertical axis savonius bach type water turbine. Where the more the number of blades, the better the performance of the turbine. And the use of additional equipment can make the turbine performance better. The best turbine performance is found in the number of blades 5 using a combination of additional equipment. Where the number of blades 5 using additional equipment has the highest torque value of 32 N, has the highest power value of 69.9 watts, has the highest TSR value of 1.0935 and has the highest efficiency value of 50%.
