Abstract

Adolescents are in a period of rapid physical development, so this period is a period that is very focused on assessing physical changes. Assessment of the physical is called Body image. Body image can be influenced by several factors, one of which is the assessment of the ideal body shape that must be achieved to support its physical appearance. This study aims to determine the relationship between body image and subjective well-being in adolescents. The data collection method in this study used the subjective well-being scale which consisted of 37 aitems and the Body image scale which consisted of 31 aitems. This study consisted of 399 late adolescent girls aged 18-22 years, using a purposive sampling technique. Based on the analysis performed using the Pearson Product Moment technique, the results obtained were a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.154 and a significant value of 0.002 (P<0.05). so that the hypothesis proposed in this study is accepted. The results of the hypothesis test show that there is a positive and significant relationship between body image and subjective well-being in young women in Pekanbaru. This means that the higher the body image, the lower the subjective well-being experienced by young women. Conversely, the lower the body image, the higher the subjective well-being experienced by young women.
