Abstract

Coping strategies are adaptive thinking or behavior in reducing or alleviating the blocked stress of a painful, dangerous or challenging condition. The purpose of this study was to see an overview of parental coping strategies in accompanying children to study at home. This research was conducted with a quantitative descriptive approach, where the data collection tool used a scale. The sample in this study were parents who were in Petai Village, Singingi Hilir District. as many as 251 people who were determined by perposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument used is a coping strategy scale of 28 items. The analysis used in this research is data portrait analysis. Based on the results of data analysis with descriptive analysis, it was found that parents' coping strategies in accompanying children to study at home were in the medium category with a percentage of 66.53%. The parents' coping strategies in this study were 39 years old on average, had a housewife job, and were female who could have more time to accompany their children to study at home. In addition, coping strategies for parents who accompany children to study at home based on the highest aspect category are in the self-control aspect, which is 99.20%, and the lowest aspect category is in the acceptance aspect, which is 38.64%.
