Abstract
The Laundry Bunga business person offers services that don't correspond to the actual responsibility for customer neglect. This is shown by the fact that some clothes were lost or damaged, and even those that were lost or damaged were not replaced with new ones or given back their money. These business actors' actions go against Article 7 of Law Number 8 of 1999, which is about protecting consumers ?The following issues are discussed in the thesis titled "The Responsibility of the Laundry Bunga Business Actor Against Loss of Consumer Clothing Based on the Consumer Protection Law Number 8 of 1999":1) In accordance with Law No. 8 of 1999, what is the nature of the business actor's responsibility in the event of negligence that results in losses for customers in the Bangkinang City District?2) What are the legal repercussions for the actors in the interest laundry business who have failed to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with Law Number 8 of 1999?The empirical legal research method, which is a data collection technique in which researchers make direct observations of the subject of the study to closely observe the activities carried out, was used to answer the aforementioned objectives.Methods: Interviews, questionnaires, and observations are used to gather data. ?According to Article 19 paragraph 2 of Law Number 8 of 1999, which states that compensation must be in accordance with the value of the losses incurred, business actors only provide compensation in accordance with the standard clause in the form of free laundry up to a maximum of five times the laundry fee. This is not in accordance with the findings of this study.Business actors may be subject to administrative sanctions of up to Rp for breaking this article.200,000,000.00.In reality, as a result of this unfair compensation, customers engage in social sanctions by leaving negative reviews of the laundry service, which results in the loss of permanent customers or potential customers.
