Abstract
One of the areas in Riau Province which is experiencing rapid forest degradation is Bengkalis Regency. Increases in local consumption, such as the need to produce residential real estate from wood, became one of the causes of forest degradation during the increasingly uncontrolled process of the Bengkalis Administration. This is exacerbated by the situation of illegal logging that has been going on for a long time. The issue of illegal logging has become a transnational organized crime with tremendous impact. These crimes are committed in a complex nature and threaten the existence of society, so a solid legal basis is needed to ensure effectiveness. law enforcement to prevent and prosecute them. In Bengkalis Regency, there was a criminal act of illegal logging, one of which was the criminal case Number: 89/Pid.B/LH/2020/PN.Bls namely that the defendant named Bongku bin (late) Jelodan. Therefore the author is interested in taking up research with the title Law Enforcement Against the Crime of Illegal Logging in the Legal Area of the Bengkalis District Court (Case Study Case Number 89/Pid.B/LH/2020/PN.Bls). The formulation of the problem in this research is, first, how to prove illegal logging in the jurisdiction of the Bengkalis District Court in decision number 89/Pid.B/LH/2020/PN.Bls. And secondly, what are the judges' considerations in the illegal logging crime in the Bengkaklis District Court area in decision number 89/Pid.B/LH/2020/PN.Bls? This type of research by the author can be classified into normative legal research. This normative legal research is carried out by only examining library materials or secondary data. Regarding the nature of research, this research belongs to the nature of descriptive analysis research. Namely describing the evidence in the alleged illegal logging case and how the judges considered the case. The results of this study are the first, the proof in this case has been carried out properly. The proving process went well and each party provided honest information based on what they saw and knew. There were also no witnesses from the Public Prosecution Service who incriminated the defendant, they explained everything based on facts, so overall the verification process was very good and almost perfect, although there were still some deficiencies. until the decision is read out as well as possible.
