Abstract

Resilience is an individual's ability to survive and bounce back and adapt positively to stressful conditions. Resilience abilities are needed by prisoners so that they do not experience prolonged stress. One of the factors that can increase the resilience of prisoners is social support. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and resilience. This type of research is quantitative with correlational methods. The data collection method used in this study is a resilience scale consisting of 32 items and a social support scale of 25 items. The population in this study was 1,494 inmates with a sample of 316 prisoners using random sampling technique. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the Pearson Product Moment technique, the correlation coefficient (r) is 0.627 and a significance value is 0.000 (p <0.05). So that the hypothesis proposed in this study is accepted. The results of the hypothesis test indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between social support and resilience in inmates at the Class IIA Pekanbaru prison. This means that the higher the social support received by prisoners, the higher the level of resilience they have, on the contrary, the lower the social support received by prisoners, the lower the resilience they have.
