Abstract

This paper presents „tunjuk ajar Melayu Riau‟a spoken tradition nyanyi panjang in Patalangan. Malay people is enriched by the moral taught for kindness and humanity. The wisdom can be seen from their proverbs and expression presented in stories that they have in the form of a book by Tenas Effendy entitled “Tunjuk Ajar Melayu”. The book tells about how to behave which generated naturally through exemplifying attitude and spoken expression. Oral tradition Nyanyi Panjang is a kind of heritage conducted by Petalang people in Pelalawan Regency of Riau Province. In oral tradition of Nyanyi Panjang has Tunjuk Ajar values that can be exemplified by next generation. Based on the result of analysis on Nyanyi Panjang “Bujang si Undang”, Tunjuk Ajar values are like devotionto god almighty oneobedience, unity and integrity, justice and righteousness, the priority of eduation, sincerity, independence and confidence, and responsibility.
