Abstract

Roads are land transportation infrastructure that is very influential in facilitating daily activities, especially in terms of facilitating population mobility such as economic activities and other social relations. So that good road conditions are needed in order to provide a sense of comfort and safety for every driver. However, road conditions are sometimes very apprehensive, especially on Jl. Senama Nenek – Jl. Lindai, Tapung Hulu District, which uses a flexible pavement type. This study aims to determine what types of damage occur and assess road damage conditions using the pavement condition index (PCI) and surface distress index (SDI) methods. This study used two methods, namely the PCI method and the SDI method. Data collection was carried out by means of a field survey by collecting road damage data in the form of road width, segment length, damage area which was then calculated using the formula that had been set for each method. The scoring system in the PCI method is by knowing the density, deduct value, allowable value, total deduct value, and correct deduct value, while in the SDI method there are four main elements used, namely the percentage of crack area, crack width, number of holes, and rutting. On Senama Nenek street – Lindai street, the average number of vehicles passing is 3038 vehicles/day/2directions. There are also several types of damage such as longitudinal cracks, alligator cracks, potholes, patches, shoving, and rutting. The results of the damage condition analysis show that the PCI method has an average value of 29 in the poor category, while using the SDI method it shows an average value of 151 in the heavily damaged category. Based on these values, Senama Nenek Street– Lindai Street must be repaired immediately.
