Abstract

Panipahan Village is directly adjacent to the waters of the Malacca Strait, so it has great fishery potential, especially various types of fish, shrimp and shellfish. Blood clam is a potential fishery with economic value to be developed in Panipahan Village, Pasir Limau Kapas District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. This study aims to analyze: (1) Characteristics of blood clam cultivators and business profiles, (2) Cost, production, income, efficiency, and break-even point (BEP), (3) Marketing of blood clams. The method used in this study was a survey method in Panipahan Village, Pasir Limau District, with 30 respondents. The research was carried out from January to June 2022. Data analysis was descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results showed that the average age of the blood clam cultivators was 40 years. The average level of education of cultivators is 6 years (SD). The average cultivating experience of cultivators is 3.3 years. The average number of dependents of a cultivator's family is 3 people. The business scale is classified as a micro business, this is based on the number of workers used in the business. The average number of workers used is 17.91 HOK. The seeds used were blood clams, with an average amount of 196.47 kg/production period. In cultivating blood clams the cultivator does not need to provide feed but the clams eat small plankton that live in the blood clam cultivation area. The equipment used in the cultivation of blood clams still uses simple equipment, namely canoes, machetes, hoes, saws, baskets and buckets. Production costs incurred amounted to IDR 3,644,370.95/production period. The average blood clam production is 446 kg/production period. Gross income of IDR 7,581,954.42 / production period, net income of IDR 3,937,583.47. The efficiency value (RCR) is 2.08. The production BEP is 214.37 kg / production period. BEP prices in rupiah IDR 8,171.28 / production period. Furthermore, blood clam production in Panipahan Village is marketed through 3 channels, namely, channel I: blood clam cultivators sell directly to consumers, channel II: blood clam cultivators sell to collectors then collector traders sell to consumers, channel III: blood clam cultivators sell to traders collectors and collecting traders resell to retailers until finally to consumers.
