Abstract

Ethnic marriage is a marriage between two people who have the same tribe and mother. The people of Rokan Hulu, especially the Kepenuhan District, have the perception that ethnic marriages should not be carried out.The prohibition of conducting ethnic marriages, the people in Kepenuhan District view that ethnic relations are family relationships. The people of the Kepenuhan sub-district have a belief that for nephews who marry of the same ethnicity, they will get customary sanctions that have been believed since the days of their ancestors with the term"ateh indok bopucuk, dibawah indok bo uwek, ditongah tongak di gigik kumbang"The customary term above is like a tree that does not want to develop and grow properly, like that in the future the household that carries out the same-sex marriage. The method in this study is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. If it's related tocross-cultural psychology, that in each region will have cultural rules and traditions in behaving in everyday life. Talking about culture, there is an order in it that cannot be separated from customs.The purpose of this study was to find out how the perception of the traditional leaders of the Rokan Hulu community towards ethnic marriage and their belief in the prohibition of ethnic marriage. The results of this study indicate that due to the development of the times at this time the customary rules in the Kepenuhan District have begun to decrease slightly, this condition is caused by the development of the community and the main Tribe in the Kepenuhan District. At this time, the nephew's children are also starting to not involve adat in any events or problems that occur. People also have a lot of opinion that ethnic marriage is okay as long as religion does not prohibit it. This means that many nieces and nephews are starting to no longer involve traditional in every event theydo.
